  1. ENYA

    Enya is from Co. Donegal, Ireland. She isn’t a band member, she sings alone. Enya plays New Age music, a music style which was created to relax and think positively.

    She began her music career in 1980 when she joined the Irish band Clannad, that was a group formed with her brothers, aunts and uncles. She released her first album in 1987 named ‘The Celts’.

    Enya has eleven albums. Her last album is ‘The very best of Enya’ where The Lord of The Rings’ soundtrack is. The second most famous single is ‘Now we are free’, which appeared in the film ‘Gladiator’.

    She has some important awards, for example:
    1. Three awards for being the best Irish artist.
    2. Two awards for being the best new age artist.
    3. The last one for being the best woman artist.

    She has her own website, called www.enya.com where you can listen to her music, as well as in youtube or in any mp3 device. I’m sure you will recognize many of her songs.

  2. U2
    U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin.
    It was formed in 1976. His components are Bono, who is the singer; The Edge, who is the guitarist and the keyboard player;
    Adam Clayton, who is the bass guitarist;
    Larry Mullen Jr., who is the drummer.

    Larry posted a note on the school's
    notice board in search of musicians
    for a new band and some people answered.
    They started doing cover songs (of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones) and after
    they saw that punk rock wasn't an option
    because there were a lot punk rock bands
    at this time (like Sex Pistols or The Clash),
    and they decided to play alternative rock and post rock.

    When they won a contest supported by Paul McGuinness, they became to get famous and they received a lot of contracts. In 1980, Island Records signed with them and after 2 months, U2 released their first international single called ''11 O'clock Tick Tock''.

    The name of ''U2'' came from the spy plane which was shot down by URSS, but the components of the band affirmed that also comes from an English play on words (U=you, 2=also).

    Some of their most popular songs:

    • Vertigo (How to dismantle an atomic bomb)
    • The miracle (Songs of innocence)
    • With or without you (The Joshua Tree)

    If you like their music you can watch their videos on YouTube or on his website www.u2.com., which we recommend to you. There are lots of things to see there.
